Activity Data. ExreNuclease at 0, 5.0, 1.0, and 0.1 Units was incubated with 36 μg of DNA/RNA mixture for 30 minutes at 37°C, then separated and visualized by staining in a 1.5% agarose gel. Lots #1 and 2 are before and after proprietary endotoxin removal procedure, respectively. | Purified ExreNuclease (Lane 1: 0.5 μg, Lane 2: 2.0 μg) on SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions. The gel was stained using Coomassie® Blue showing a single band at 29 kDa and purity greater than 98-99%. |
Background
Alternative Names | Nuclease A, NucA |
Function | Serratia marcescens Nuclease A (NucA) is a secreted, magnesium-dependent endonuclease that indiscriminately degrades both DNA and RNA, whether single- or double-stranded, linear, circular, or chromosomal, plasmid or viral, into into short 2–5-base oligonucleotides. Recombinant NucA, such as ExreNucleaseTM, has applications in bio-processing to meet guidelines for host cell DNA and viral DNA clearance, lowering lysate viscosity, improving clarification and chromatography, and cleaning up nucleic-acid contamination in cell-free assays. |
Cellular Localization | Secreted enzyme |
UniProt | P13717.2 |
Gene Symbol | NucA |
